Trust me, I didn't read the entire book! It's just totally about the ending which I loved so much. It Only Happens In The Movies is a YA fiction by Holly Bourne. It was in my TBR since long, but also a suggestion by a close friend, so I had to read it the soonest. If you haven't read it yet, please skip this post, 'cause it's entirely about the ending.

Synopsis:

It Only Happens In The Movies tells the story of Audrey who, after going through a horrible break up and seeing her parents' relationship collapse, is very much over romance. However, her world is soon turned upside down when she meets wannabe film-maker Harry.

I thought you guys deserve to know the synopsis before reading my blabbers about the ending.

Rating:

3/5

This rating, right above is only because of the ending. The ending was an unexpected one.

Like who would've thought that the girl who was head-over-heels in love with Harry just doesn't need that fairy-tale ending. The entire book was actually an 'it only happens in the movies' kinda thing. But the ending was real(damn, too real!).

Ending:

I stepped over the candles, I left my uniform on the counter and pushed through the doors. The bright spring sunshine disoriented me and hurt my eyes, like it always does when you step out of a cinema. Emerging into the real world. Where the lines aren’t scripted, where the characters’ motives don’t always make sense, where the lighting isn’t flattering, where boring days are things you have to endure rather than skip past in a montage, where the couples don’t always work it out, where the rain makes your hair frizz, where love is sometimes complicated and hard and dull and painful and grey and ever-changing and compromised and flimsy, rather than only perfect and soulmates and kisses in the rain and knowing they’re going to live happily ever after. It is both. Every love affair is always a mixture of both. You just don’t see both in romance movies. The only love affair I needed to invest in right now was one with myself. Spend some time with me. Figuring out myself and why I picked the relationships I did. I was holding out my heart to me. Because I’d realized I was the only person who could give me a happily-ever-after.

The camera pans out slowly as I merge into the crowd. Becoming, slowly (and with a killer end song of your choice) just another face. Another normal human. Whose love story is over…for now.

This is that fabulously crafted ending, reading which my mouth was open for a few seconds. If I can be so awestruck just by reading the ending, the reactions of those who read the entire book and saw this at the end is unimaginable.

A girl doesn't always need a boyfriend, all relationships do not end with happy endings. But some unhappy endings can be the best thing ever. Audrey took the best decision.

If you really want true love in your life, love yourself first. Nobody can be your best partner other than you.

I didn't like the entire book. As I said I didn't even read it, 'cause I seriously thought it was an It Only Happens In The Movies kinda thing. But the ending explained it all.

I would suggest this book to every single person who really needs to get hold of their emotions and have a control over their lives.

I was sad because I love happy endings but was happy because he didn’t deserve her after he cheated on her. Also, I agree about the real but that is the kind of book I will never read again, no offense to the author, because I read books for the happy needing with them forgiving each other and she can never, like ever or anyone in her situation, forgive the guy.
